Work began on Phase 1 in January 2011 and already quite a lot has been done. A new apartment building on the former Peveril pub site is now up to the second level, and new buildings on Eastham Close and Dennet Close are advancing. Today I took 6 photographs which I have e-mailed to local St Ann's councillors Jon Collins & Dave Liversidge.
Local residents are commenting that the rooms in the new buildings are 'small' and wondering if some mistake has been made with the plans.
In the March newsletter circulated to all estate tenants it says that all the new buildings will be connected to the District Heating Scheme. However, we watched the new foundations being put in and seen JCBs dig up some of the small heating pipes that connected the original flats to the Heating Scheme. Therefore, new heating pipes will need to be installed in the Phase 1 area. Councillor Dave Liversidge has since told me that he has spoken to Managers at the District Heating Scheme who have assured him that the properties will be connected after construction.
