The Residents on Eastham Close held a meeting with NCC Regeneration Manager Mike Charlton, Joanna Briggs (Community Planning Officer), and LisaCalhane from LHA_ASRA on 24th April.
The two controversial houses will continue to be built, while the Eastham Close footpath may remain unchanged as it is now. Concern was also raised about a short flight of concrete steps to be built at the side of 10 Eastham Close, as drug users have now begun meeting their. A number of syringes were removed by NCC earlier this month. The new road going down Lytton Close is also cause for concern due to serious safety problems. The proposed street lighting is quite inadequate, and there is to be no footpath for pedestrians to walk along.

The block of apartments on this site continues to be built opposite the houses, and the ground floor units persist to be the topic of conversation on the Estate. They have no stairs linking them to the upper level, while the central two units have no ventilation ducts. The only entrance into the accommodation is from the large French windows adjacent to the Eastham Close footpath shown in these photographs. Strangely, there is no footpath shown on the detailed plans to allow the new occupants access --- also, how will the poor postman deliver their letters !
The two controversial houses being built on this site will be quite an edifice when completed, blocking out all the available light, and the view. There are also serious privacy concerns as the locals residing in the Eastham Close houses nearby feel they are going to be living in a ‘gold fish bowl’ environment.
